Water Wise Warriors

Emerson Community Charter Middle School

A water-wise garden and accompanying book for educational outreach.

Students create a test-case, water saving habitat with composting, drip irrigation and chemical-free, organic, sheet mulching to remove grass guzzlers and provide room for a California native plants pollinator habitat. The garden projects to save tens of thousands of gallons of water over the course of its life. The book includes descriptions, findings and experiences derived from the test-case model to extend the value to others for their own yards.
