Jeans & Dreams

Byrd Middle School

An ambitious, rising business upcycling clothes to save water while spreading awareness of the importance of conservation.

Jeans are one of the most water consuming products on the market, taking up to around 1,800 gallons to produce one pair just for them to not fit in a couple of months! Jeans & Dreams saw this issue and decided to make a change by designing a company and brand which takes jeans which no longer serve a purpose and crafting them into useful accessories. This company saves water on the accessories while making the most of the water already used in a pair of jeans. It takes about 300 gallons of water to make a tote bag, about 100 gallons to make a headband, and approximately 150 gallons to make a pencil case. By using recycled jeans to make these products instead, Jeans & Dreams saves about 1,910 gallons of water, including the plastic in the headbands. In addition, Jeans & Dreams has a website to sell finished products to friends, family and whoever wants to buy!
