Jurors

Overview

Thank you for agreeing to be a judge for Magenta House, inspiring middle school students to transform their communities into water-wise and power-conscious places to live.

Please see the Magenta House ’23 projects page for links to all project webpages associated with the 2024 Magenta House season. All content that you will need to review as a judge may be found here.

As a judge, you may begin your project review however you’d like. We recommend, however, that you begin by reading the short summary descriptions of all projects first, for overall season context; then, go back for a deep dive on a project-by-project basis.

For each project, please review the premiere as well as supporting materials (presentation pitch deck, and other written or visual materials).

Most importantly — have fun!

Criteria

Judges’ assessments of projects should follow the four criteria listed below:

  • Innovation and creativity (execution of ideas), 25%

  • Implementation strategy and viability, 25%

  • Impact -- qualitative and quantitative, real and predicted, 25%

  • Opportunities for scale, 25%

The top three projects will receive award money offered to their schools to continue their sustainability initiatives.

Winner selection

The process for making your Magenta House awards selections is easy: simply give each project in the Magenta House ’24 lineup a score between 1 and 10 in each of the four categories above. Please log your selections on your private, restricted-access juror sheet. Alexi Caracotsios will email you your juror sheet.

After you have made your selections, please notify Alexi directly (alexi@pandopopulus.com). Please note our decision deadline: Thursday, April 4.

Please keep all jury-related matters and decisions strictly confidential

Winners will be announced at the Magenta House Expo on Saturday, April 6.

Please plan to attend The Pando Sustainability Awards on April 14 at Caltech for the honoring of Magenta House winners.
